I came to notice that the first commit of open source projects already show complete versions. However, in my opinion it would be good to have a history before the first functional version. Particular to understand the code. While programming/designing I find myself looking for more accurate words to describe concepts, variables, classes, functions, etc.

Do you think it would be a good idea to have a thesaurus in the IDE? Somebody know of an implementation of this idea?

I have a huge amount of important information in my gmail account. Of course I could backup that info to be even safer. But I'm wondering is there some estimate of the real probability of gmail of losing your data? I guess it is almost null.
