How is the deliverability of Amazon SES? I'm sending around 300-400 emails per month.
For context, I run a backup company (notionbackups.com) that backs up Notion workspaces to various cloud storage providers, with Google Drive being the most popular integration.
Two weeks ago, I was on holiday and checked my Google account from a foreign country. When I came back home, I couldn't access my account anymore and was stuck in their signature verification loop with no way out.
Fast forward to today, I noticed that backup jobs are failing en masse. I log in to our Google account, and lo and behold, they greet me with a "Your account has been disabled" message. I never received any warnings or communications from them.
I was anticipating that one day they might block my account, since that's what they do, but this came out of the blue. I submitted an appeal, but I'm very skeptical it will go anywhere.
I don't store data on customers' behalf, only download and transmit it to their storage of choice.
Currently, I have 3 levels of backups:
* hot storage - backups run every 5 minutes to Hetzner's Storage Box. if things go wrong, this is where I will first restore from.
* offsite #1 - Tarsnap, encrypts and deduplicates backups to S3. runs once a day in the evening.
* offsite #2 - Restic, encrypts and deduplicates backups to Backblaze B2. runs once a day, early in the morning.
anything you'd change about this setup?
December was a particularly slow month, but I chalked it up to the holidays; now, I'm not so sure.
Have you noticed the same thing lately?
This whole journey is already quite challenging and lonely, especially when most people in your life don't understand what you're doing and you have no one to talk to about it.
I'm going to keep it completely free, but to vet applicants, I will ask for social/revenue proof.
You're welcome as long as you are:
* a solo founder
* have already launched a product/service
* have some customers (doesn't matter if it's 2 or 4242)
* in one way or another connected to technology (don't want to limit it to SaaS only)
There are several online communities for founders already, but:
* you don't always know who you are talking to
* there's a wild variance: some people learn programming, others are making $1M+
* it is not easy to keep in touch or keep up with particular members of that community
* some founders might be hesitant to share numbers/info publicly
* over time they tend to get overrun by marketers and spammers

Thoughts welcome.
