I would like to know are there any good and modern alternatives to the most popular terminal-based editors such as VIM and Emacs?
Thing that I'm looking for is something like Sublime Text. So keybindings should be more or less familiar for the Windows/Mac users(i.e. copypaste through the cmd+c/cmd-v), but I want to run it in terminal/unix environment. This is very important for me.
I know about Nano, but set of code manipulation features is too poor. I want a rich set of "advanced" features like we have in Vim/Emacs.
Any suggestions?
Speaking about hiring, I think Russia is a good place to find well skilled developers and/or business partners to cooperate with. But as far as I understand building a product is just a half of work. I'm not sure how difficult will it be to promote and sell something outside of the country I live in.
If residence in the USA is vital for IT Startup, I would like to know how can I get there legally. The only opportunity I know is obtaining work permit visa(H1B etc). But I don't really need a work permit per se, since I'm not looking for a job. All of my friends who moved to the USA did it to find a job. But this is not my case, so they can't advice me.
Also I have israeli citizenship. Not sure, but maybe it could help somehow?
So my question is how do I promote such product?
I am currently considering the following ideas:
1) Make an IDE for this language, or at least implement support for this language by the major code editors.
2) Make something cool using this PL. Like software or web sites. So I will have portfolio that I can show to clients and another developers. But again the question is how to promote these portfolio products?
3) I have no experience in game development. But at a first glance it seems to me it will be easier to promote games than software or web services.
