At least in EU.

My team received application written in Python 2.7. Old team members are retired and not available for any questions.

Following technologies are used in project:

* Django

* SQLAlchemy

* XML-RPC

* Jinja

* Springpython

* Pyro.

The application is using PostgreSQL as database and has about 150.000 lines of code. (mostly backend, UI is really simple)

We are tasked to modernize whole tech stack (migrate to Python 3) and fix couple bugs (rated from the previous team with both priority and severity low)

Most of the team members have zero experience with Python and have zero knowledge in business domain of this new application. We can not hire additional people. Considering how much will cost us in time/money to update this code base to Python3 I am somehow more on the line to migrate to the tech stack that we are already using for all other projects.

I found a lot writing on topic Python to GO, but on Python to Java/C# not so much. Are there any success stories with described best practices during rewrite?

I am going to be without an internet connection for 4 weeks but still I would like to do some coding experiments.

What is easiest way to host locally npm repository?

I would need same for nuget or maven? Did anybody tried and succeeded with either of them?

Different documentation and books are solved problem but for package managers I am not aware of easy solution.

Around year ago I read blog post that was on main HN page about how author is using Linux and his plans what to change in new year. He described he does minimal setup with I3 and how he switched to Nano for all development. his blog was again on main HN page couple days ago.

I tried Google/ddg/Bing but without success.

I know about imapsize but there is no developer activity for over 10 years.

Must:

- LDAP Integration

- free or non-profit license

- Linux self-hosted

Nice to have:

- Modern look

- Fast

- Markdown editing

- Java portals

- Good community

Already tested solutions:

- Liferay => slow, hard for maintaining, writing plug-ins is complicated

- Exo platform => bad documentation, small community

I mean on which job sites.
