Ask HN: AI art and copyright/licensing laws?
I've been seeing a lot of amazing AI generated art posts recently on HN lately and I am starting to think about AI art in the legal sense.
Just today a user posted AI-Generated Bible Art [https://www.openbible.info/labs/ai-bible-art/] which is cool to look at, but this art was created from bible verses and machines. My understanding is that the bible is not protected under copyright law and "computer generated art" is also not protected under copyright.
Licensing might be another story, but the generated bible art has a CC-BY license. Is this possible? I mean couldn't anyone feed bible verses into DALL-E and get the exact same images?
I wonder how this will shape the future in a legal sense. Anyone have any ideas or views on the matter?
