I have been without Facebook for about a year now, and the one thing that I really miss are events. On the one side, there are a lot of events that go over my head simply because they are advertised solely on Facebook. And while I know I cannot do anything about that other than having a Facebook account, what I also miss is a convenient way of managing my own (social) events, being able to send updates to my guests, changing the event details, etc.

I feel like Doodle covers part of it, but I've always used it in a formal/professional setting to schedule meetings, and I think that a Doodle invitation will be perceived as such. I wonder if there is an alternative closer to Facebook events that allows me to manage my (social) events?

In the past, I've tried many different productivity methods (most prominently GTD), and the longest period I've managed to stick to one was maybe half a year. I feel like not using GTD doesn't affect my productivity as much as it does my stress levels.

Are there people out there who managed to stick to a productivity method for a significant amount of time (years)? If so, which one and what's your secret? Should I keep trying or go with the flow and handle things the way it comes naturally to me?
