I thought we were miles away from building something like this because of so many complex parts involved
1. State of the art speech to text generation ( Shout out to Whisper here )
2. State of the art question answering ( GPT-*, LLama, etc..)
3. Integration with your virtual life ( emails, music, finances etc..)
1 & 2 have definitely shown significant progress. the major bottle neck right now is 3. Most of our virtual life is centralised and no one provides a clean API such that we can actually have a holistic view of everyone's digital persona in one place. And last but not least, privacy and security is super important considering we are giving the total access to a bot. Am I missing anything else? Would like to see some healthy discussion on this topic
Putting aside my skeptic view, I do see the value of decentralization in certain areas and we need to keep pushing the innovation in this space despite the recent fraudulent events.
I would like to hear what the community thinks about this. Is the whole thing been a Ponzi scheme to begin with from the beginning or do you think there’s a need for alternative economy / decentralized infrastructure to exist in the current world setup?
I am not looking for yes or no answers but more like rational arguments behind your opinions
I'd love to hear about what interesting problems (technically or otherwise) you're working on -- and if you're willing to share more, I'm curious how you ended up working on them. This time, with a twist. Please include web technologies too if it's really niche and not a lot of people know about it
So, what are the best possible measures we can take to mitigate the problem a bit or even solve some low hanging fruits?
Here are some of my ideas I would focus on (or) I would love to see them happen.
1. Automated end to end kitchen for all homes in the world. Cooking should not be a chore anymore. Some might disagree but generally I believe this frees up a lot of free time for humans. 2. Longevity research. By no means, I am a biology expert but I am quite excited about all new developments in this area and I am hopeful that we were able to see positive results in the next decade or so 3. Decentralisation of internet which will break monopolies. People should realise that data is a commodity like water and electricity.
One of the area I can think of are object manipulation especially with deformed objects which is under active research.
I was wondering whether any ML experts here can throw some light into this.
This is quite an interesting paper in this space https://arxiv.org/pdf/1904.00303.pdf
