A few weeks ago I posted for a review of my startup, and got some really good feedback. We went back and re-designed the site to be more intuitive and easy to use. Please take a look and provide some feedback.

Am I missing something when I see sites like Digg not using HTTPS for login and passing plain text passwords? I thought you always needed HTTPS for login form submission.

The reason I'm asking is to figure out if we should be doing this for our startup. Any insight would be appreciated.

Looking for some insight on which tool is the best for monitoring web applications. Ideally want a dashboard type setup, where I can see my logs from web server, hibernate stats, HTTP request/response stats, errors, JMX monitoring and all.

We are an Atlanta based startup looking for an UI/UX expert to help us build for our Beta. We are self-funded and have the budget allocated for this work.

After hours of looking on the web, the one thing I've realized is that for this type of work you really need someone who comes with recommendations. So I turn to you guys for help.

EDIT: We are an angel-funded startup, building a web-based research aggregation tool. We have a budget of up to $5000. We are looking for someone to help come up with a clean design, branding, and layout. We have 4 unique pages, and a bookmarklet that needs the creative touch. We are implementing using the JEE stack (Struts2, JSPs, etc.), and have been using Blueprint CSS for layout.

EDIT AGAIN: We have 3 developers on staff, we have been able to come up with a basic site layout, color scheme, and know how to wire it up. What we want is someone to give us a new logo, CSS, header, footer, graphics for certain controls on the page, and maybe if they have a better idea on how to present certain data (but this isn't as important).

I am wondering what are the requirements for TC50. I've read the website, and have tried emailing TC50 (but no response). We are looking to apply to TC50, but as of now we don't have a demo/alpha/beta. We are shooting for late August to have a demo ready.

Does applying to TC50 by June 23rd mean you have to have a demo/beta or can we apply with our idea and try to build the system?

We are also bootstrapped right now and am wondering if there is a special quota for startups that are looking for funding?
