I have recently been laid off. I have been single handed developed the entire AI / LLM / DS of the last company. I have been working for more than 19 years now. This is the first time I am feeling afraid. Looking at the little chances I am getting. I have always managed to get jobs. I started companies, raised funds. Did a lot of different things. I am completely technical and I am a very strong IC.

Is it because the Job Market is bad? Or is it because I am looking for remote work? I fail to understand the the present trend of "on-site" jobs. I am guessing employers had bad experience in COVID time and wants to get back to the normal setting again.

I am not sure what it is, but I am struggling to get past the first call. First time in my life. Worried about my family. kids... So was wondering if the general situation is really that bad.

I have read "The devotion of Suspect X" recently and although it is not truly a "Fair Play" mystery but I have since then delved into more and more Japanese Shin Honkaku style writing. I really love them. Would like to know more from other parts of the world (with an English translation if possible :)

Today, with a little effort I could generate a fully working code of a rnn based time series forecasting using this tool. It makes me scared in a few things

1.> What will happen when evil players will get hold of this tech? Are we going to witness another cold-war or something, just this time the threat will be who develops better models?

2.> This incredibly powerful models are built and maintained by private orgs. Isn't that scary in itself?

3.> How do we adapt ourselves so that we can co-exist with such techs (and the more that are yet to come in the near future)

Maybe some more points can be added. What are your thoughts?
