Looking at the 1-year google finance default indexes the stock market more-or-less flatlined until November '16. Has anything about the economy fundamentally changed since then? Is this a product of speculation around the new president's agenda?

I've seen several articles and threads lately that make claims of solar energy matching or surpassing that of more traditional (coal, gas) energy.

What's the "simple verdict" on it--is there simple math?

I'm sure many of us have a 10,000 foot perspective, any inside perspective? What do they do day-to-day? Who starts and/or funds one?

This is a somewhat common theme, but I can't think of a discussion which advised how to objectively evaluate skills in contrast to other button pushers.

Last night my wife showed me a bunch of job listings for Google. I scoffed at the prospect, because those people are actually incredibly smart. She scoffed at my not thinking that I am one of those people.

So how does one determine where they lie in the spectrum?

I have a habit of using off-the-shelf frameworks for all of my projects. It allows me to focus on the development of whatever I'm doing without having to reinvent the wheel. I'm curious about others' workflow. Do you setup a clean directory and import components? Do you redesign everything, every time?

I've tinkered with arduinos and stepper motors/stepper controllers. I built a CNC mill. But I'm hoping there are components that I can plug together and just focus on the software side using existing hardware modules.

I've been working 50+ hours a week for the last six months. Between my "9-5" freelancing for a full-time client, and my evening personal projects, I pretty much spend 7am-10pm concentrating and mentally engaged. For the last couple of weeks I'm having a hard time caring about the client's project.

At this point I'm almost ready to go find a job working for a single company who will make all the decisions and just delegate to me "code this."

So what do you do to reverse (or prevent) burnout?

I figured that if I built a machine that can make stuff, I can make stuff to sell to others to pay myself back, and save up for a nicer machine.

I just don't know where to look / who to ask about "what can I make you?"

Thoughts?

Hackers either know more than me, or have more time than me. This will always be the case, so I'm curious about what tools or resources people use to test their stuff, either automatically or manually.

Most here are likely in this same situation: you have a highly demanded skill set (either technical or aptitudinal) and thus have the ability to work almost anywhere (physically or in name)

I'm curious what heuristics or decision framework you apply to deciding where you're going to do what to maximize the experience (e.g. money, title, experience, location, et cetera)

I've been dabbling in freelancing lately. Somehow I've managed to hook some decent sized projects that will take a couple months to a year to develop. As you can imagine they all want their project started tomorrow.

Some people have advised me to as for $40-50k to retain my services. Some have advised me to ignore everyone except the current client.

Ideally I'd like to get someone(s) to help me so that I can make everyone happy.

Sorry if this isn't appropriate here, kinda' burned out from 60 hours a week and hoping for some outsiders' perspective.
