Many large corporations refuse to entertain the possibility of a cloud solution predominantly due to data legislation (ie governments won't allow certain EU data to be held outside the EU) or proprietary information loss fear (ie if it's on the cloud, then the cloud owner can look at it and steal my secret sauce). However, billing, budgets, estimates of future growth etc etc are still nightmares in these places.

My question: Is there a 3rd party solution which is run completely in house that can "cloudify" existing infrastructure so that current and new projects can leverage from the flexibility of an AWS-type solution (especially the billing and expensing part) ? This would enable the business side of the corporation to be billed accurately for their usage, the infrastructure tech dept to justify their costs easily and the development groups to not go through their budget battle at every turn.

Ignoring privacy issues, let's just imagine I want to sign up for the service above. One of the mandatory fields is "Date of birth". However, no matter what I put in that field, I always get the error "date is not valid". No hint of format, not even a datepicker. Anyone here from MS that can hit these guys with a clue-stick ??

I've had this concept bashing about in my head for just around a year now. Now - before the haters - ITS NOT FOR SERIOUS PEOPLE. Wear a suit? Don't install it. Present in front of people ? Don't install it. Hate the permissions it needs ? Just don't go there.

However, the feedback I've had so far has been very very positive. I even demo'd at Droidcon 2012 UK on Thursday and it worked ! (Very surprising as all the other network dependant demos failed on their ass). Anyway, would love to get some positive feedback about where to go next.

Oh yes, and as I said, if you don't like the idea or trust the permissions I need, then please, just don't install it. It's for the "crazy frog" crowd.
