I've found that HN has become increasingly cynical, and I'm trying to understand why. Not snarky; serious question.

Is it simply because being pessimistic makes you sound smarter?

What questions do you ask to maximize the utility of information you capture?

What exercises do you use for offsites, team brainstorming sessions, and roadmap planning? Are there particular software tools that help make these sessions easier to run?
