People build cool stuff (not only with code) and it would be great to have some kind of "social media" platform where you can share posts with updates on the process, be discovered, discover others.

What obstacles you are facing? What solutions you found? That was always interesting for me.

I can't think of any such example. Do you?

CrowdStrike update causes a Windows OS to crash and not even starting. It's definitely CrowdStrike's fault but I feel that good OS should prevent a 3rd party app to cause such damage. Can Windows take part of the blame for that outage? Would it happen on Linux?

I want to somehow add my grandmother (88) to our family group chat on Facebook Messenger. She is living alone and needs contact with people. She is really smart for her age but has never used a computer.

I'm looking for some wrapper for Messenger to make it dead simple for her to use (big font, no accidental clicks, no closing, always on).

Do you have any recommendations?

Recent progress in AI gives me anxious feelings which I can't address. What fears do you have?

My feelings:

- it's kind of a "cheat code" which makes a lot of mental work pointless. Why expanding your cognitive abilities if AI can do most of mental tasks faster and better?

- human creativity isn't any special thing

- giving more power to people eventually leads to a disaster (e.g. industrial revolution and climate change)

- I can't explain how AI can be so powerful and it makes me anxious

- jealous because I didn't choose an ML path at uni

I'm looking for a new laptop solely for coding purposes. I don't need any fancy features like fingerprint scanner or touchscreen. It has to be fast, reliable and serve me for a long time, repairability appreciated. I will use Linux only. I primarily do full stack web projects with Rust, TS and some low-level programming with C++.

I will consider every option below 2000$
