I am one of the techical staff for a low-volume national newspaper.

For some of our editorial work, we are considering a software solution for managing the editor and reporter communication and for organizing the workflow.

I made a Google search and come up with two hosted custom solutions. But they are expensive given that we might not gain any productivity boost.

As we are keen on using open source solutions, we would like to know if there are any open source or custom paid solutions.
