For context, I operate a product that Microsoft doesn't like (I have received cease and desists in the past and Microsoft even had LinkedIn shut down our LinkedIn pages).

As a precaution, I left Github when the rumors of Microsoft's acquisition began floating around.

My question for everyone is-- do you think Microsoft poses a risk for Github users? I can certainly imagine Microsoft leveraging their legal team to C&D my code if it were on Github or worse, or am I being too paranoid?

I have an ethical/consious product/service that is for-profit, but self funded. I think a .org would be nice for it, as it serves users well and ethically, but the service does generate income. Is this frowned upon today?

I have created a product in the email automation space and Google's OAuth process finally got back me and told me I need a $15,000 to $75,000 assessment because we make requests to an external service (our own service).

Obviously as a side project/business a large fee isn't going to work considering the product makes zero money at the moment. Are there alternatives? Would it makes sense to stick with IMAP all the way?

If you were tasked with crawling the entire web, how would you go about doing it?

I'm trying to find some good examples of well written Rails code (CRUD apps, etc.) to review and try to improve my own abilities.

Does anyone have any examples of good/solid Rails apps out there that are open source?

As a solo entrepreneur/developer, I find it difficult to find time to "learn" topics. Instead I mainly learn by "doing" which means I lack a lot depth and generally know enough to get things done.

What's a good method or technique to get a deeper learning while staying productive and getting things done (especially as a busy person with very limited time)?

It seems like learning things in depth is a pipe dream!
