I'm a senior in college (graduating in about a month) and I still haven't managed to get a full-time position. I'm starting to become confused to what areas I need to work on.

First, I thought my resume was bad, but then I got interviews at most places I applied to, so that's good. Then I wasn't getting through the first phone interviews. I developed myself some more and now I'm getting onsite interviews, but still no offers. Clearly with this trajectory I should become employed soon, but I'm wondering what I am doing wrong.

I'm applying mainly to places I see on Hacker News, is this a mistake (they don't hire junior developers) or do I just need more experience (I had a late interest in computer science and blasted through the entire major in 3 semesters)? I'm starting to wonder if I will get a job by the time I graduate. If I don't will this hurt my long term career prospects?

I'm a senior in college and this is my last semester. I'm struggling to decide which class I should take.

There are two options: Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science (The topics covered include: regular, context-free and context-sensitive languages, finite state automata, Turing machines, decidability, and computational complexity) or Networks and Cryptography (Networking topics will include layered network structure, signaling methods, error detection and correction, flow control, routing, and protocol design and verification. Cryptographic topics will include classical cryptosystems, the data encryption standard, public-key cryptography, key escrow systems, and public policy on encryption.)

The added thing is that if I take Networks I won't have class on Friday, which I wanted to use to do personal projects or schedule interviews.

So my question is, for veterans in this industry, if you were me which class would you take? Which one is ultimately more useful? I find the two classes equally interesting.

Hi, I lurk on HN very regularly, and have always been kind of scared to post anything because people seem so smart (to the point of intimidation).

Anyway, I'm a senior in college studying computer science and am about to begin the job hunt. I have completed two internships, but despite this I don't feel like I'm qualified for many of the job listings on here. I've been preparing for technical interviews for about 2-3 hours a day (reading Elements of Programming Interviews), but I don't know if this is actually helpful.

Does anyone have any advice on what the best strategy is? I have literally 4 weeks to burn and want to do the best I can.
