In the past decade there were a lot of changes around web development (node.js, HTML5). Adopting methodologies and architectures from other related fields, making progress on having an efficient and "automated" development process.<p>I wonder how hardware engineers see these changes and if there are similarities or exchanges of knowledge or habits.<p>Hardware engineers in specific, because I imagine the physical aspect generates some constraints.

Graphite is really nice for having proper metrics in jiffy, but the setup, apps all around and messy/broken dashboard are a really pain.

Anyone knows of any alternative? Something more streamlined, portable/lightweight?

Currently I am working freelance for clients at $90/hr, what could that mean as to what I should ask for a full time salary?

E.x. full time salary in generally is 75% of the hourly rate.
