At a startup, sometimes the core team lacks bandwidth for certain projects. In these cases, hiring an outside dev shop seems like an interesting option. Of course, there are some trade-offs, in terms of maintenance, knowledge transfer, quality, risk, timelines, etc.

For all those seasoned devs/eng leaders out there, what are your heuristics for when it is a right, or wrong, call?

Can’t find this anywhere but just got an email from my recruiter:

“I wanted to let you know that we filled all of our IC4 roles at Facebook. We unfortunately have to cancel your screen interview.

Please know that I have a list going with your name on it, if we open IC4s again you are one of the first candidates I will be calling.”

I have a large number of PDF forms (think government applications) that I need to write data into. Right now we are doing it by hand, but I would love to find a tool that allows us to 1. Map some sort of schema to a PDF 2. On a POST request, generate a new PDF via the POST data and the mapping

Any recommendations for how to solve this?
