Come say hi if you'd like! You also welcome just listen in / work silently.
A little bit about me: I graduated from college in 2016 with a degree in CS. Then spent a couple years in management consulting and private equity, before starting a SaaS company in SF this past winter.
I'm broadly interested in economics, finance and politics. I've also been thinking hard about what changes to the world will persist after the quarantines end. My golden-doodle may make an appearance from time to time as well :)
Hallway started as a fun side project / "toy app". It creates temporary video rooms in Slack for teams to connect and make working from home less lonely.
I wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas about how to think about turning this into an actual business given there seems to be some interest?
Do most companies build this themselves with role based access control, access logging, automatically blocking any sensitive customer data or PII? Or are there tools on the market that do this?
We're Parthi and Kunal from Across (https://acrossapp.com). Across allows you to scale high touch experience you provide your customers when you create shared Slack channels with them. With Across, you can track customer requests, automate responses and message customers across Slack channels.
We love creating shared Slack channels with our customers, but this experience doesn't scale. When you have 20+ Slack channels with customers, it becomes impossible to remember who to follow up with, who on your team is responsible for which customer request, etc. And there aren't great integrations between Slack and existing task management and bug tracking tools today (most just allow you to create a ticket).
So we hacked together a solution for ourselves. Across has ticketing and task management on top of Slack, so you can keep your team organized and on top of all customer requests. You can reply directly from a ticket and we'll automatically post the response to the right channel, customer, and thread, so you never lose track of a conversation again.
This is just the start! We're looking into building a whole suite of tools and integrations on top of Slack to make customer engagement better. Looking forward to hearing what you'd want us to build next.

It's getting hard to manage. I was wondering if anyone had any tools or tips on how to offer immediate and intimate communication channels with your customer via Slack while balancing the work that it creates?
Also, would love to hear if you are part of any shared Slack channels with your vendors!
I handle all sales for a B2B startup. We have customer conversations across a bunch of channels, including email, Intercom, LinkedIn, Twitter, sometimes Facebook, Slack, and Whatsapp. I'm finding it extremely difficult to handle follow ups.
I was thinking about building a web app and Chrome extension to centralize all customer communication across email, Slack, Intercom, SMS, and more in one place. This would tell me who I haven't followed up with in more than X days across channels, give me context about previous customer interactions across channels, etc.
Before I build this, wanted to see if anyone else would be interested as well?
