As we're all going to be spending a lot more time indoors, and not seeing friends and family face to face, can we come up with alternatives to Facebook Portal TV for staying in touch?

I'd like my toddler to be able to do virtual playdates without it being routed via a 5" screen. I'd like to be able

Ideally

- something cheap (e.g. leveraging old phones, or things people already have, or are cheap), and easy to set up and use so that it's not just my rich techy friends that get on board

- something secure, so my techy friends get on board

- connects to the TV

- HDMI-CEC for activation/control would be nice

I was thinking that with the right kind of paper (a bit more flexible than writing paper) and the right design (and some tape) one might be able to fashion a snazzy, eco-friendly christmas jumper which could be printed at zero cost using the office colour laser.

Unfortunately my google-fu is letting me down, in terms of finding - the right kind of paper to use - the right kind of clothing pattern to print out

Can you help me save Christmas?
