Merry Christmas. Today I logged into my Mac Mini and noticed that all files on my desktop are completely gone. I suspect it has something to do with failing to mount the iCloud drive? Anyone have any tips for debugging or should I cut my losses and restore from backup? iCloud is so unreliable.

Why/how does BingGPT delete message it sends after sending them as seen in multiple videos leaked.

Anyone from Microsoft that can comment? I am assuming there is a "higher-level" God AI which is just another LLM that is doing sentiment analysis on the messages output by the "lower-level" ChatGPT bots.

It is interesting the decision to screen the message after sending it, maybe this is to avoid a performance hit on the initial answer.

Humans all have different knowledge sets, experiences, and personalities.

Why do we expect all ChatBots to have a perfect knowledge set and personality?

Lots of conscious humans say horrible things, isn't it expected that some of the ChatBots created will say rude things or have an evil personality?

Just like humans go through therapy and some people are nicer than others, certain ChatBots will win out that align with the desires of the human trainers (whether that is good or bad).

A lot of people seem to be down on LLMs, when we are literally in the first out of the first inning of the baseball game.

Better training, with nicer humans, with better knowledge graphs, and corpus of texts will result in ChatBots indistinguishable from humans (of a given personality and intelligence).

Wasn't Google search auto-complete sold as an LLM at the time it was released in 2008?

For achieving general AI, why are we hung up on the question of consciousness?

We don't have a way to prove consciousness in humans, let alone AI. For all I know, everyone around me in reality on earth is a NPC bot similar to Westworld, and I am the only conscious person. I have no way to prove otherwise.

Does it matter if an AGI robot is conscious, if it behaves and acts like a normal intelligent human being? Once it passes the "human being like" Turing test, such that there is no way to distinguish a real human from an AGI robot, then the question of consciousness is moot anyway, correct?

With half the staff laid off, who is handling pending Twitter trademark cases now? We have a pending case to get our trademarked handle made available, which no one has answered for over 2 months. Is that normal? Should I @elonmusk for help?

Why did humans evolve to develop a sense to detect and act upon sound waves? Presuming we started from a single cell, how did it "know" that sound waves were even a thing to be interpreted and evolved towards? And if there is an innate tendency to develop senses, why did we not develop a way to detect and interpret magnetic fields? Or the other presumably infinite forces that exist and can convey information?

If we assume animals can't conceive of a higher level consciousness, i.e. the ant doesn't know of a human, then why do we assume humans could consciously conceive of whatever life-form is above us?

Can't we use the argument that with 8.7 million species, what are the odds, that we are number #1? Why do we assume we are #1, and not some lowly species with not even the slightest idea of what apex is above us.
