Software engineer contemplating a move from Seattle to Mountain View. I'd be coming in at the senior level to a company considered a "unicorn". When I do the math on the cost of living increase and what I currently make, the minimum salary that I need to make is 175K. Is this low, on target, or high for a Senior Engineer in the valley? Initial offer is in the mid-150K range.

I should note, I'd be leaving behind a job I'm not completely unhappy with, co-workers that I like, and friends and family, for what looks like a great job in a place where we don't know anyone.

What qualities made them a great software engineer? What are some examples of concrete and standout things they did to make the quality of what they did and how they did it memorable?

Thoughts on the difficulty level of the following question for a senior front-end engineer candidate? Interviewer was given 15 minutes to provide the function body for

I provided some basic assertions to valid the code was working. Solution is about 12-13 lines of code.

I remember being able to solve this sight unseen within 15 minutes; I was asked this question on an on-site by a large, well-known tech company. When I tried it again pre-interview it took longer (~30 minutes). Thoughts?
