Is there a good place to go for recommended standards/implementations (maybe even setup assistance) for domain and network admin resources? Places where there are recommendations like "If you are setting up a domain controller, the industry standard/recommendation is X" or "These are the appropriate security concerns/settings when setting up workstations for remote management with WMI/RPC"? Short or trawling through NIST or ISO docs, I'm not sure what would be considered reliable resources.
Does HN have some recommended readings for Microsoft's CA role, Certificates, and PKI? My company is preparing to replacing our domain controllers (hardware replacement and going from 2012 R2 to Server 2022) and one of them has our local CA. It's not used for much right now (DC authentication, Kerberos, and Exchange), but I am trying to decide if it will be simpler to migrate or just start a new CA.
My company is planning an update and migration of our existing AD forest and server roles which currently exists on two machines using Server 2012 R2 to two machines using Server 2022. Does anyone have some recommended resources (outside of Microsoft's documentation) on ways to make this a smooth process and things to be on the lookout for?
After 10 years of personal tinkering and customer service jobs that, while have not been bad I have also not enjoyed all that much, I have decided to pursue some technical certifications, starting with CompTIA's A+ and Network+ to switch my career track to the IT sector. I have access to TestOut.com and their prep courses. I understand they are partnered with (possibly owned by) CompTIA and I wanted to see if anyone had used them before to get their respective certifications and if their material was sufficient.
