Been debating between the two but wanted to get ideas from folks here who have had experience with both!

What are the cons of going with a Windows 10 with WSL2 (i7-1260p) machine as opposed to an M1 Macbook Pro which has the same hardware specs as the Windows but costs twice as much?

Is there anything only possible on the Macbook and not possible on the Windows machine? (Except for iOS-specific development)

Hi all I am an engineer/part-time photographer that works a lot with photo/video editing, and at the same time, have a couple of active Mobile Apps as side projects going on. My previous Mac from 2015 is showing sings of slow death and I wanted to jump onto Apple Silicon.

Wanted to see if 16GB is enough for me or would it be better to get a 32GB RAM instead. My idea is to keep it for at least 3-4 years from now. My use case is: Photoshop, some photo editing, video processing, and then, Mobile game development (Android mainly), maybe some work with Docker (running 5-6 containers simultaneously) while having other tools like Android Studio, Zoom, Brave and Edge Browsers with 20 tabs each, etc. open

Not talking about the hardware, but the general experience overall. I know Windows has gotten a lot better with WSL these recent years, but I haven't touched Windows for 10 years now. Peeps here who have had experience with developer-friendliness and tooling in both these platforms, can you comment?

Been developing in WSL2 for various things like Ruby/Rails, Elixir, Python, and even some Android development for quite some time. However, I came across the new Apple Silicon M1 Chip and heard a lot of positive things about it. I wanted to purchase a device for my side projects so trying to get some insight on what your experience has been on this "new" platform.

My work heavily involves Docker, and I have always known that OSX never had a good support for it. I tried Docker for Mac on intel many many times in the past and it always was painfully slow and not of much use.

People who have experience with Docker, and software development on the new M1 platform, can you comment on differences compared to WSL2? I really liked my experience with WSL2 and it has always been a breeze to have a Linux machine live right in my Windows.
