I'm curious about how a software developer's time is distributed across different phases of a product's lifecycle, how much time is spent writing code, reading code, writing design docs during each of these phases.

And, for 'each of these phases' I mean during ideation, prototyping, and after gaining users shifting towards maintenance, refactoring, and scaling.

At what point does feature development slow down in favor of bug fixes, tech debt reduction, and performance improvements?

Also, how does time allocation change in different environments—startups vs. big companies, SaaS vs. consumer apps, open-source vs. enterprise software?

Any patterns you've noticed?

WhatsApp, Slack, and many of the messaging apps introduced a send a message to yourself feature a while back. Essentially to a place to put in rough notes.

Do you use this feature? For what and why?

Are there any blog hosting platform that connects to a github repo and publishes all the markdown files as blog pages?

This is already possible for technical docs which is supported by something like https://mintlify.com/ , I want something like this for blogging as well.

I just went to a festival in Northern Italy, which was set to mimic the middles ages. The food, cutlery (or, the lack of it), entertainment, were all set to match the times. I've been to many events/restaurants around Europe that are set to re enact the middle ages.

Is this a new phenomenon of re enacting a different period in time? Or, did people in the middle ages re enact the ancient times?

A lot of articles I come across HN, seem to be paywalled. I am thinking of subscribing to some of them. However, I find it hard to decide which ones to subscribe to and how to manage the subscriptions.

1. I am primarily interested in tech, startups, and the happenings in this space. Are there any recommendations for publishers in this space? 2. Is there a decent unified subscriptions option? Like pay for a subscription package for x set of publishers? 3. Others ways of looking at this?
