I tend to be a little messy in the beginning of my projects when starting from scratch.

How do you take an idea to completed application or at least to V1?

Defining the users, DB schema, Defining high level classes, creating pages, or is every project a different approach?

I'm working for a startup in the travel industry and I've been thrown into a project management role. I've been using Google Docs to manage the development backlog but it's getting pretty messy. Wondering if anyone has any insight on whether or not moving to something like Rally Software or a different SaaS project management tool would be overkill or a good move for a small dev team (3 coders and 1 designer)?

I've been coding now for two years. My method for learning at this point is digging in and building stuff. But when I first started out, I relied heavily on books (You remember those right?). Lately it's been online documentation for whatever library I'm currently using.

What helped you the most when you first started out? Videos, books, online tutorials, school, or another method?
