We are a couple of Vancouver (Canada)-based engineers who developed a technology and intend to convert it to a (probably micro-franchise-type) business.
In short, it is printing as a service in a public place. You pay online and can send files to the printer (situated in a university building, library, coffee shop). Something along the lines of Mac AirPrint or Google Cloud Print as an external service, except that you can use it from anything that has a browser and is simply better.
I believe, we are great with the technology. However, we are somewhat fuzzy with the business side of matters.
If there is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur out there with relevant experience who is willing to mentor us on such matters, could you please contact us at tihoutrom at gmail.
Thank you.
Nowdays WiMAX-type networks may be deployed to countries like North Korea, Iran or Egypt (and other oppressive countries) with similar technologies. Laptops or simple cellphones that are already widespread in the country may be used to access the network. People can start criticizing their government and coordinate their efforts for change.
Just a general thought that doesn't lead anywhere. But I thought it is worth it to publish it somewhere.

HN focuses mostly on web startups. Maybe it is worth to discuss resources on startups related to other advances in engineering and science. In medicine, material science, manufacturing automation, sensors etc.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
