Hi,

For anyone who tries to keep a record of time spent on different tasks, what software (if any) do you use?

In an old workplace there was a bespoke "clocks" system where you could have 10 clocks open with pre-completed "tasks" assigned to each and a description of work completed - with a click of a button one clock would start and it would stop the previously running clock.

I am looking for something similar or better.... any tips?

In addition to seeking funds from family and friends and general networking, what are some other particularly successful ways to seek seed funding?

As someone from a legal background, I am used to endeavouring for perfection in the documents I draft or review. Many successful entrepreneurs and investors suggest it is more crucial to get to MVP and then fix on the go. As I move more into the high-tech world, I am curious as to whether the MVP + fix model applies to dealing with (potential) investor materials. For example, I have been asked to review a company's seed-round investor deck over several iterations and on each occasion I have found grammatical nit-picks. I assume these may turn an investor off but perhaps it would be better to just get the deck out there and worry less about grammar (I am not talking about glaring mistakes but more at the highest levels)?

What legal issues do you wish you had known to think about, or learn about, or resolve either right at the start of your venture or otherwise, earlier than you actually found out about it?

The advice is pretty consistently that it is ideal to have a long-standing relationship with your co-founders but what if you don't know any kick-ass technical people? What are good ways to meet great technical co-founders and form long-lasting relationships?

I work with quite a lot of start-ups in my current main job as a lawyer. As a result, I often get asked for help from friends and sometimes volunteer it. Recently, I was asked if I would be willing to offer a few hours of help per week (the company is post seed, pre-A)....

I really like the idea and the people and am keen to learn more about their activities, but I also work long hours and would basically be saving them quite a bit in legal or other advisory fees....

I have some thoughts and am happy to share, but first I'm curious to see what people think? Pros and cons of giving this help? Should I be expecting/demanding options or other compensation? Any experiences of this kind of thing ending well/badly?

It is clear that YC prefers founder teams and I get that (it definitely makes sense), however as the fellowship allows for idea-stage entries, doesn't it make more sense to apply alone than find what might be the wrong tech-co-founder? I don't want blatantly to ignore the signs about co-founders but I think my idea is worth applying with even if I am currently the sole founder.... anyone with some insight?
