I'm in the market for a new monitor. My setup is both for gaming and working and I'm using a gigabyte 27" 1440p/144hz monitor and an old dell 23" monitor. While refresh rate is great on the gigabyte monitor it leaves a lot to be desired in terms of picture quality. The old DELL looks even better than the newish gigabyte monitor.

I wonder what everyone else is using these days ? I can take some inspirations from your posts.

For a few years now I’ve been sitting in a standard $200-something Costco-bought chair and while the quality is good I find myself slipping from the net-like materia and ending up in a weird hunching position very often during the day. This leads to some neck and back pain happening a couple of times during the year.

I was wondering where do HN users sit and if they recommend it.

It's been a few years since the release of apple silicon. The reason why I haven't made the change yet from my trusty 2019 i7 mbp is because of all the articles I read back in the day when the new architecture was first released.

Using docker on m1 processors involved using rosetta and making changes to your application dev. configuration to specify the use of x86_64.

Is this still the case?

People who use Apple Silicon processors as your daily drivers and make use of Docker in development. What is your experience ?

I’m a data engineer in my current place and most of our pipelines and code we write is in python. The backend team writes must of their services in Scala.

Sometimes, we need to debug stuff that cross-references the backend services and It’ll be a plus to have knowledge of scales for a better understanding of what’s going on.

Scala devs of HN, what are your in your opinion the best resources to learn the language?

I've been a Bear.app user for some time now, recently I factory reset my laptop and was looking for maybe an alternative just to spice things up, an app or maybe a setup, to take notes related to my job.

Things I'd like to have:

- Good looking notes - Supports markdown - Allows for easy filtering

I'm always interested in knowing how other people do stuff so I can learn and take notes (no pun intended).

I recently discovered "FiraCode Nerd Font" and I've been using it everywhere as I setup a fresh new laptop.

Hello HN, I'm looking to start a new project and I'm curious to see if there are any alternative for modern web apps that don't fall into the SPA approach but still having a dynamic frontend with js and with page rendering fast. Specially if it's something that it's fast and easy to setup and has a built-in way or plug-in to authenticate users.

Maybe it's just too much to ask and a SPA with React or Vue with an API in the backend is still the best way to go.

I was imagining an ideal world where you could have a project quickly setup with Django and then a sparkling of Svelte here and there to enhance things up in your views.
