The world will catch on once a few killer apps establish better footholds, but we're not at all prepared for what's coming. ( omg doom and gloom :D )
It's as though we're in the middle of a gold rush, and most of us are using shovels. But a few new technologies just showed up, allowing tiny teams to create factories capable of generating bespoke solutions like self-guided/self-healing electric razor shovels, and quadruple edged camouflaged scanning bean shovel, etc..
Whichever shovel factories come out on top is somewhat irrelevant, though we'll probably some new billionaries in this area soon.
The thing I'm excited about most is that this will allow some 10x developer/creator types to become 10^x once they master the right combination of skills.
My reactionary response would be something like "Dude, it's 2016. Eclipse, Chrome, and WebLogic max me out" (Yes, WebLogic, that says it all.)
Should I just leave this place ASAP, or has anyone had success in lobbying their company for better hardware? If so, can you give me some tips on how to pull it off? Your tax dollars are involved!
