I don't understand why the PSF is begging me to donate by showing an intrusive (and borderline manipulative) banner ad disrupting my reading flow.
If this was supposed to be the "point", it has made even more less likely to give money to support them.
I understand that sponsors are needed and the PSF have already been paid massively for this with their many PSF sponsors. Because of these generous sponsorships from these companies that use Python, you wouldn't need donations from me.
I just wish we can stop the enshittification of almost everything by polluting the web with ads.
Lawyers are slow, terse and way too expensive today to the point it feels that they are gatekeeping for being inefficient and a lot of time wasted for everyone.
With the fact that LLMs are getting more and more better with text and hallucination rate is going to near zero, there should be no reason that lawyers rates should be extremely high in an AI world.
There are massive case law datasets that are available and paired with LLMs and the need for only 1 or two lawyers, it should stand to reason that lawyers + AI should get more done and not charge obscene rates.
I imagine that there would be a either an AI lawyer or a lawyer paired with AI that can take on 100,000 or more cases a year and charge $100 max rather than take on 10 cases and charge millions without AI.
We've already seen AI progress with everyone becoming digital artists, freelance writers, or programmers using AI and those who are already in those professions 10x or 100x ing in productivity already using these AI tools.
Why are industries like finance, consulting, lawyers, accredited investors too slow and gatekeeping with high rates of fees when AI can lower the barrier to entry for everyone and in the process 100x the people in these existing industries productive output?
i'm a cs student starting a developer vlog and blog on indie hacking and my journey on youtube and on my website, sharing, comparing and reviewing the tools I use to everyone.
obviously this takes a lot of time for me to do, so I plan to sell sponsorships on my channel and banners on my website and on feeds. i am considering a newsletter if i get time maybe.
while i've been researching and i've seen somewhere that someone is making $8K to $11K a week on sponsorships for a blog with no newsletters, and $5K a month on banners for a game.
these prices are very very expensive, since my audience (developers) HATE ads entirely, which has put me in a dilemma with pricing and has gotten me a bit discouraged for trying to make an income to pay for making videos and my cs degree.
i was considering $600 a week or month for these ads, but when going to companies for even $100 a week when i started, i was told this was "highly expensive" and i seen a company ad on a blog / podcast which was charged for $12K a month.
if you had a company what would you pay a sponsorship for if you had to and if you're a developer would you even mind sponsorship ads at all?
i don't know what i am missing here and still very new to this, so help is appreciated.
thanks!
