I'm losing my mind at work, thking about becoming a contractor to help bootstrap my startup.

I'm thinking of pumping out some Django/Twitter bootstrap sites for some local businesses. What should I know before I start? What books cover the details? What tips should more people know? How do I handle my finances myself?

I've recently been given an offer to join a startup of 10+ people. I'm very hesitant though, because for me the reason for doing a startup was that I wanted to learn about my own limits.

Obviously I like the idea of having money, but more than anything I want to make my own choices, and I don't think I'll be able to do it at this place.

Is this a stupid whiney thing to think about? Or is it something worth actually doing?

What do you use to remember wtf is going on? Orgmode? RTM? Yellow paper notes? How do you do it?

Why is the tech community being so quiet about this issue? Is it a matter of thinking that it's in someone else's hands? That it's inevitable?

How do you plan on changing this? Preventing it?

Where is the action? I don't want to read another blog post. I want to read the surge in p2p, meshnets and encryption. But all I read here are articles written for people wanting to declare success without a profit.
