Any suggestions on what I should build?
One of my ideas was to build a mockup viewer for balsamiq.
I will be spending around next 1.5 months on this. Only constraint is it should not be a 3d game. Anything else is fine :)
For each of the platforms I will be using the tools and sdks for that platform ie no cross platform frameworks. I will periodically blog experiences with each platform and release the code under MIT license.
So let the brainstorming begun :)
p.s. If any startup wants to utilize my marathon to get their mobile app built, I would be more than happy to do it for free as long they are fine with taking over the project once I have released the v1
1 Line Pitch: Show Twitter trends for your city and allow you to compare buzz across cities/countries.
Looking for Feedback on: i) Which cities should we add next? Should we grow vertically (trends in 3-4 mile radius in existing cities) or add more cities? ii) Do you think we should go in direction of more charts and comparison tools or add more cities and try to get twitter clients to integrate using our Api? iii) Would love to know what you liked/disliked about the site and what more do you want to see? iv) Anything else on how we can improve it

found couple of alternatives (both sas and software). Wanted to know what you guys are using?
Both are completely different things. It takes ten years to build a company. You can go jump up and down or left and right but it really takes that long.
Twitter is 3rd generation product built on of hype (Myspace->Facebook->Twitter). The first two generation still have to make enough company to be called interesting. Twitter can become big but is it big enough given the hype? The latest trend seems to be building apps around twitter. Two years back it was building facebook apps.

New Moto: Build something people are willing to pay for

If they are not willing to pay for it, they dont really need it. Be it a virtual gift or freemium or clean ur toilet service. As long as people pay, you have a business.
