I'm currently in the middle of developing a SaaS and am already wondering if I should do a beta stage with limited users (invite only or something like that).
The product is not something too niche (any non-impulsive buyer who uses e-shops would do) so I suppose I could find people who would benefit from the service that might not be 100% done, a bit buggy and a bit broken. But where should I look first? I suppose, HN would be the first place I look to.
The product would not be free (once it's mostly done) as it would also be costing me (vps, emails, text messages etc). I suppose I should be letting people use the SaaS for free for the beta duration and probably give them discounts if they are willing to use it once it's live?
How should I take their feedback? Currently looking at something like UserVoice. It would take me back $20 every month I'm doing the Beta and if I decide to keep it further on.
Any other advice on how I should handle the birth of a SaaS?
I do have knowledge of programming but not really sure how to grasp the whole concept.
Interested in concepts of how AI works in games such as Starcraft (I suppose, Warcraft too), Hearthstone (and other card games), Counter-Strike work. While I guess the FPS AI (at least the official bots) are not as fair as it might see - they're probably rigged to fail at some point just like chess engines are when are presumably playing in lower ELO.
Are there any books, tutorials, challenges that would be a great starter for me?
Our website was recently blocked from an ad network for because "all" of our clicks were fraudulent. While we do know that we did not do anything of such sort, we doubt that any resolution will be found to this problem. We just hope to land on a more decent ad network than we did.
What ad networks are used by fellow hackers?
We assume that AdSense is usually the best option but it does not look like they want to give us a chance and rejected our application.
Thank you for your inputs :)
Our web project is currently running on a VPS of one of the leading service providers.
But the problem we're having is that our traffic is not constant, it might raise 4-8 times depending on the day, the time. Having a VPS that does not automatically or easily scale (as in, without restarting the VPS) is not good enough for us.
We are looking for services like AWS that do provide automatic scaling when needed (probably, when CPU/RAM reaches some value). Unfortunately, AWS is currently not an option since we can't really afford it and it might get us broke if it scales too much ;)
We're quite unexperienced and would like down-to-earth answers. If you do have your own projects and do not want to look like you're only promoting them, feel free to message us at hn at ampoll com.
