I get that news outlets want predictable revenue streams from subscriptions, but let me conveniently pay an inflated fee per article also, so that I don't have to contend with cancelling and so forth. Failing that, can I at least pay to access today's batch of articles? That would be virtually the same as buying the paper issue.

Sorry if this topic is too silly for HN, but a recent jobs listing site submitted to HN shared the name with a serious psychological disorder. It's unfortunate, but also funny - the idea of people spending a great deal of time and thought to produce something and unknowingly giving it an objectionable or obscene name. For example, there is a recommendation engine called TasteDive which started out as "TasteKid". Does anyone recall other examples here on HN?

One show HN-submission a few years ago that I recall but haven't been able to trace since was a database startup with an inadvertently obscene logo. The logo was a cartoon beaver or otter lying on it's back, waving, supposedly. Commenters on HN pointed out that it looked like the beaver was "air-fellating", which cheapened the landing page a bit. Anyone remember what I am talking about?

Hello gang, I am exploring options for monetizing https://cinetrii.com which in essence presents users with quotes from critics inferring connections between films. There is little "original" content in terms of written material but the algorithm is quite novel and film nerds like myself find it useful (it got covered by Gizmodo and others some years ago).

I just got a rejection from AdSense on account of "no content" and "scraped content" - is the matter worth pursing with Google? Are there any (credible) ad networks that would allow ads on a website like this? If the UI on desktop presents a hurdle there is also a separate mobile interface.
