i've recently started to walk and run more often and love listening to podcasts while i do it. i enjoy software engineering-focused ones to stay up to date on things.

what recommendations do you have for software engineering podcasts?

Is anyone using Java for new projects? I've seen a lot of job postings / new companies being started with Python, Go, TypeScript, and the like.

Outside of companies already firmly planted with Java in their ecosystem I don't really see people being excited to start new projects using Java (or even a JVM-based language).

What is everyone's thoughts here? Am I perhaps in a vacuum?

Note: I really enjoy the developer experience using Java and enjoy exploring other JVM-based languages like Clojure, Kotlin, etc.

As the title states, what technologies are you using for new projects? Either for work or hobby!

I came across a job posting on Netflix where they were hiring a Live Streaming Engineer. It sparked my curiosity as a lot of the technologies mentioned such as transport protocols, MPEG video, audio/video codecs are foreign to me due to my heavy web dev background.

Outside of just googling these words, does anyone have recommendations on resources for learning technologies for live streaming and how they are glued together?
