Just about everyone but Youtube understands this. The Windows, Android, Mac, iPhone volume controls all utilize a logarithmic scale for volume control, which means that the steps are fine-grained and consistent.
Youtube on the other hand insists on using a linear scale. If you use keyboard controls, the range from 50-100% only increases the perceived volume a little bit, while the steps from 0-5%, and 5-10% are too coarse to be useful. So I give up and just use the device volume controls instead. Trying to use the mouse is equally challenging, where even pixel level movements sometimes result in a drastic change in volume.
I had reported this as a suggestion a few years ago, but for a company that chooses not to respond to celebrities losing their Google accounts, you can guess where the suggestion was dumped. I just hope someone at Youtube sees this and finally fixes the issue!
