Got a need for a guru in the web crawling space for a potential project. Any pointers on companies, or people I can talk to would be helpful. (and don't say google/yahoo/microsoft!!)

a potential research app requires the scraping of a few hundred websites/forms and diving into the child links to obtain the linked/parent structure ie. company->dept->title->name.

in this case, this would involve going 4 levels deep, and getting the required information.

so, does anyone know of a method/app/company that can be used to accomplish this. orm am i going to have to figure out how to get a number of cheap guys to write a bunch of python scripts!!

looking to create a couple of rather detailed UI/Mockups... any webbased/desktop tools for the linux environment... the intended apps are to be web based.

apps that produce prototype html that can be walked through would be good. looking for something cheap, and not too complex. also, looking for an app that spits output that can be shared/edited by future (possible) team members..

I'm curious. Has anyone run across, or compiled a list of online businesses? Any thoughts on where to acquire this kind of list?

I'm fairly certain that the major search engines/ad networks have this information, but I'm wondering if this kind of information is accessible in a db/cvs format somewhere?

starting to get in the need for a scalable web app, not just from a book, but a live app, that will do something.

in looking around, i haven't come across any code that i can take and slap on a few servers, and have an app up/running, so i can climb though the codebase.

it occured to me that this might be a usefull kind of app/tool and that others might have a use as well. so, i'm posting here to see if there are others who might be interested in creating this kind of plaything, or if you might know of sites/tools for this kind of project.

a small business opportunity. allow people to post their redacted business/operational plans for funded/non-funded entities.

allow people who are looking for live plans to be able to search through abstracts/text of the plans to get a feel for what's there... charge people something small, like $10/year for the rights to access/view x number of plans.

charge them something less if they post their own plans...

also, have the ability to have plans (anonymously) reviewed by given trusted people within the site...

to deal with someone's fear that a given idea might be "stolen" the actual idea portion of the doc can be left out... for the purpose of this site, it wouldn't be that important/critical...

if you want to build something like this, let me know.. i'd probably be willing to personally throw a few grand into something like this....
