I have always tried to build web applications that load quickly, don't require JavaScript (but can be improved by it) and work on any device that supports rendering HTML and CSS.

Everywhere I turn there's a new framework or library that depends on complicated build tools, generating mountains of JavaScript and sometimes even generating HTML and CSS.

What's wrong with building simple web applications that get things done and don't require build tools, secondary (or tertiary) languages or meta-languages (like SCSS, ERB, JSX, Jade, etc)?

I have tried postgres FTS and it didn’t cut it (I really wish it did) but I don’t like bringing Java into my stack.

Any alternative, simple (near zero config) FTS engines out there?

Most companies have an organization on Github and use it for their public SDKs, API wrappers, etc.

These companies tend to not take pull requests or anything, so there's little social interaction. Why don't most of these companies self host read only repositories for these SDKs?

It seems like they add a dependency (Github) for little gain (maybe some SEO link juice and the rare issue that gets reported).

I am considering trying a system76 laptop in the near future but wanted to get some developer feedback on it. In particular, experience with non pop OS installs and hardware support.

Does anyone know of a simple tool to analyze Nginx logs? Perhaps a simple binary I can easily run?
