I was looking for a multi-purpose laptop for some light gaming and also Android and Web development. I have been searching for a while, but with a tight budget, I finally found a gaming laptop with specs: - Ryzen 5 4600H - 16GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA GTX 1650 (4GB) - 120Hz Display - Windows 10

Now two things I didn't like was the weight at 2.2kg and screen size 15". I'd have like to have a 14" screen and weight around 1.5kg. There's a kind of business variant of this laptop which has an Intel i5 11th gen chip without the NVIDIA graphics and costs around the same. The advantage is that is it is 1.7kg.

I have been primarily using Linux for around 2 years now, so I do plan to dual boot Linux at the minimum. So I am worried about Ryzen compatibility. Can the HN crowd please give your opinion on whether the specs is ok for my use or I should look at something else?

I've posted about buying a laptop before but my budget didn't let me purchase it before.

What in your opinion is a good low/medium budget laptop for an android developer?

So I am going through a scenario. I was working in a startup for the last few years and my salary, due to personal relationships and negotiations have been much much lower than industry standard. I was given 1.5% equity when starting and also flexible working hours and the freedom to take days off whenever needed.

Few weeks ago, I applied to a new company just to see what it's like and I cleared it and was offered around 4 times the current salary. When I notified it to the current employer, they offered me 8% of shares to stay.

I am now confused on what to do, because on one-side there's a sure financial benefit, but maybe stricter timelines and procedures and on the other, there's a possibility of high magnitude of benefits if the current company grows. I'd like to hear your thoughts

We have a Linux based device that we give our clients to avail our services. To connect to our internal APIs, we allow uploading OpenVPN config (which we generate). The problem is that anyone with access to the device can easily copy the config and connect to the network. Is there any way to prevent users from viewing the file?
