I've heard of facebook, google, etc offering work flexibility. I'm interested in finding other companies that offer location flexibility for their employees (e.g. work from home/remotely one or more days a week).

My name is Dave and I'm starting a publishing business. I've decided to narrow my focus on what I know...software engineering. I don't have a website yet, but I'm compiling a list topics/categories/books that I think are missing in the market but I'd like to hear from you if there's a book that you'd like to see.

Some topics I've come up with so far:

* Project based books. By the end of the book you will have built a complete application. Things like simple databases, operating systems, compilers/interpreters, shells, build your own framework, blockchain.

* Career focused books. Making the jump from junior to senior engineer, soft skills, navigating office politics, etc.

* Remote working - pros/cons of remote working, how to make the transition, etc

My plan is to identify compelling writers and programmers who specialize in these areas and work with them to publish books on these topics. I'd love to get any feedback on other topics you'd like to read about.

We've got a i18n project coming up at my day job. I'm curious to hear other's experiences with completing i18n projects. What worked well, what didn't work so well, what would you do differently? Were there any 3rd party tools or services you used?

I've been reading a book called "The Promise Of Sleep" to learn more about my troubles I've had sleeping over the years and it's inspired me to start hacking and gathering my own data about my sleep patterns.

I'd like to take a shot at building an at home EEG machine to gather data on my brain activity at the time I fall asleep and throughout the night. I've been searching around for existing products that let me have access to the data and I can't find anything so I'm looking into building something. I'm not even sure where to begin though. I'd need to start with some EEG electrodes but not sure how I can capture the data from the electrodes. Does anyone have any experience or ideas on how I can get started?
