Many of us know how to right code to make a gread product, but what about getting users ?

I tried many startups, each one of them had a different marketing strategy. SEO, Ads (mostly facebook and google), friends and relatives, sales, etc..

What did you tried ? Did it work or not and why ? What should we have done differently ?
