Besides tor, bitcoin, etc, does anyone know what other technologies (langs, frameworks, hosting) Ross Ulbricht used to build and scale Silk Road to an estimated $200M in sales [1]? Did he have help from anyone else? Seems pretty crazy that one person was able to scale a marketplace to that size.

Is there a data set you would love to have but you just don't have time to compile?

Is there a data set that you currently compile manually that you can't live without?

Would it make your life easier if you could avoid opening all those browser tabs every day/week/month and instead purchase a neat file (csv/google spreadsheet/something else?) with everything you need? Which browser tabs would this eliminate?

A site offers any visitor (authenticated or not) free download of documents at a certain path. This path is disallowed from being crawled by all user agents in robots.txt. What is the consensus around using something like Mechanical Turk to distribute the process of physically clicking the free download link and collecting the documents? Would this fall into the "avoiding a technological control" category? I know, I know, I should ask a lawyer, but I'm interested in the community's opinion on the practice.
