About a year ago I started a side project in which I created an Android app for a national restaurant chain. They have a loyalty program which I participate in, but is incredibly difficult to keep track of using their supplied methods. The app was created on my own time and without funding from the company and released to the public for free where it has received very positive feedback from other customers.

The restaurant chain has since taken interest in the app and tracked me down to talk about further development and an iPhone version. I’m turning to ask HN, because at this point I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to sell the code I’ve created outright as I have enjoyed working on this project and would like to continue to do so. In a perfect world I would love to continue development and retain rights to the code, but also receive some revenue from the company for development, maintenance, and support of the app. Have any of you been involved in an agreement like this before or have any suggestions for how I should proceed?
