Are credit checks typically performed during a seed round (issuing of SAFE notes and convertible notes)?

Note that I'm asking about what currently happens, rather than what perhaps should happen.

Say there's some particular search term that you want to analyze hype for. trends.google.com is useful here, what other tools are there?

What would be great would be a trends.twitter.com type site where you could analyze frequency of tweets including keywords with or without the hashtag. It looks like there are some tools for twitter, but they focus too much on hashtags.

I'm worried about ideas being stolen. I'm sure the VCs in these departments are trustworthy. However, it would not surprise me in the least if the VCs were being asked to share their notes in a location that just happens to be accessible to business development departments.

Are there any war stories that have made it to light in this area?

People constantly post about how distracting open-plan offices are. The solution that is often proposed, noise cancelling headphones, don't really work because noise cancelling headphones stop background hums, not the sound of talking. Actual earmuffs DO block sporadic sounds like talking. However you can't really wear earmuffs in an open plan office (that would be weird, and also earmuffs don't play music).

What would be amazing, would be headphones with earmuff material between the earpiece and the outside of the headphones. Then you can listen to music without any sound bleeding in.

If anyone is looking for a hardware startup this may be a good idea. I would pay good money for this. I've tried the usual recommendations eg Sennheiser HD280's but the sound muffling isn't that high.

I have a dyslexic co-founder. Does anyone know of a cheap service that can proof-read emails for him on short notice? Perhaps zirtual, although it looks to have scope that goes beyond just proof-reading (also it's kind of expensive).

Any other tips to help dyslexics?
