I would like to ask you when it's better to file for a patent. I have an idea for a system(software+hardware) and I could turn this into a prototype in roughly 6 months.
The question is, should I apply for a patent now, with only the design on papers or should I wait till I have a working prototype?
And a bigger question, is there any point in applying for a patent in general? I mean, if you manage to get your product out in the world, before everyone else, do you really need protection?
Thanks
I am here to pick your brains and ask if any of you has experience programming a quad rotor. We(a team of undergraduate students) want to make our own autopilot and we would like people to tell us how to get off the ground. The resources on the internet are not in one place(or even two) and it would save us a lot of time if someone could pinpoint us to some sites to read.
Thanks a lot!
I am in the bay area hosted by Oracle, as the winner of the Thinkquest Digital media competition. I have two more days left here and I would really like to visit the big companies in the area(the offices, not just the campus) and other smaller start-ups. I am studying engineering at the University of Manchester so I am really interested in this field.
I was wondering if anyone can help me get a visitor's pass or give me some directions on where to go/what to do. If you want more information about me ask for my e-mail in the comments.
Thanks, Dimitris
