A review of Google searches shows Cisco's new IoP platform Tetration appears to be a big thing. But as a mathematician who has hosted http://tetration.org for twenty years and keeps tetration researchers socially organized, the continued appropriation of the word tetration is a surprise.
First it was Joshua Cohen's "Book of Numbers" where "Tetration" is the largest company in the world." Then a new company named "Tetration" began appearing in Google searches for "tetration". And then the references to tetration as a part of mathematics disappeared under the flood of results on "Cisco Tetration".
Big call out to the person at Google that provided disambiguation of the topic. Otherwise I've been unable to connect with anyone at Cisco Tetration. I'm disapointed that the meaning of "tetration" is being redefined from numbers that are incredibly large to meaning incredibly large amounts of bullshit.
I am providing technical feedback to a woman who wants to start a non-profit company in the North Bay to train people with Aspergers to be software testers. Aspiritech in Chicago seems to be doing well doing this. But a quick check of Google trends indicates half the traffic in software testing as in 2004. Is software testing a viable career path for people?
After being a fanatical Netscape/Firefox user for 15 years I was forced to switch to Chrome due to Mozzilla's absolute incompetence. For half a year Firefox has been continually bringing my computer to a halt through utilizing all my CPU and RAM resources. So I finally installed Chrome. As a software engineer and a web developer I thought I would extend Mozilla the courtesy of explaining the departure of a loyal customer. So I went to Mozilla's comment page, but was unable to to leave a comment because I wasn't running the current version of Firefox. So I fired up Firefox and returned to the page and selected the option to express I was unhappy with Firefox, but they only had a 120 character limit to the message. I couldn't submit the message I wrote. I was outraged!!! I went to their Facebook page but it only allows you to "like" Firefox and doesn't allow the posting of messages. I have uninstalled Firefox from my computer. Mozzilla has dug a hole, jumped in and pulled the hole in behind them. And the hole is their grave. RIP Firefox!
I am autistic and have a serious problem with sensory overload. Now flashing, moving and dynamic ads are all the craze on the Internet, but these adds give me significant problems in being able to read the text on the pages they are on. Beyond that I perceive them as being mildly painful. When I was a web developer on large projects in the nineties there was a significant concern about making our web sites legally compliant with laws about Internet access for the disabled. I'm afraid the web is turning into a sea of dancing boloney. Are there any laws that regulate this? If not, do people think there should be laws that regulate this? I also suffer from the autistic tendency towards excessive honesty and so I have been reluctant to use ad blockers. If nothing else are there good options for blocking these sorts of adds. It would kill me if I could no longer use the web and I'd hate to have to use something like Lynx.
