Ask HN: Workplace wide desktop based health reminder software
I am wondering if there is any software available that encourages healthy habits for employees sitting all day at workstations? i.e. software with hourly reminders to get up and walk/stretch, perhaps with stretching exercise animations etc? The perfect solution would have a learning algorithm that uses likes/dislikes to let the employees customize what stretches etc and include options for people with physical disabilities or mobility issues. The stretches should also be specifically to counteract effects of long term sitting. Customization is key to prevent it from being perceived as intrusive or an annoyance, though its use would be voluntary. (I personally think this could be a small startup idea for someone. I am a civil servant and workplace health related to sitting is in vogue. Standing workstations have started to be provided with a doctor's letter or a worplace assessment. I bet a low cost department or corporate wide license could generate some entrepreneurial soul a steady supplemental income. Bring a physiotherapist/occupational therapist friend on-board as a partner). I am not an entrepreneur so if I have thought of it, someone must have done it already...
