I am confused why they would give options? I am already working for a salary and spending my time there giving up bonus, 401k etc. Shouldn't that be compensated through RSUs? Options basically means I am contributing my own money to the company.

Trying to see if anyone is interested in skill exchange. I would like to work on a project with HTML/CSS component. I am backend engineer in day job so I can help you understand that. Or I know hardware design and compilers, if you need help with that.

What does your project need help with? What can you offer in exchange?

I am just curious to see if any colleges live stream their classes? Or any students who tweet what they learnt today.

Would be a fun experiment. I do understand that it cuts into their revenue streams, but still want to explore.

One of the ways to understand marketing (in a consumer oriented startup) is to read about some situations and think how you would have acted in such a scenario. I am thinking of "Suppose this was day one of Instagram. How would you acquire users 100 to 1000? Option A: Give a talk in photography class. Optiob B: Post on reddit".

Do you guys know of any quizzes/marketing exams like this?

Udacity is getting ready to kill its mobile app. I got following email from them today. I think its a good thing. Mobile apps should die..for they add little value but cause massive privacy problems. I hope this means less intrusive "download our app" requests on websites

When we launched the Udacity app over 4 years ago, we were pleased to offer Udacity students our learning experience from the convenience of a mobile app. Ultimately, ten percent of Udacity students downloaded the app, and many enjoyed using it as an additional learning path.

In 2019, we are prioritizing massive upgrades to the Udacity classroom and service experience. We are focusing our efforts to support, motivate, and drive not only learning and career success for our students, but also to provide a world-class online learning experience.

Because the Udacity app has not significantly advanced students' ability to achieve their learning and career goals, moving forward we will not support many of these product upgrades on the mobile app and will sunset the mobile app as of January 9, 2019. After this point you won't be able to download or use the app anymore. The Udacity classroom experience, including Knowledge and Student Hub will remain supported on mobile web as it is today.

I see that most of the well known courses/MOOCs (Udacity, Coursera, Skillshare, Pluralsight) online are all video based. Why is this so? Why have text based tutorials and courses fallen out of favour? With video, you cannot go back and forth as easily, you cannot concentrate on what you want and is generally slower than using text bases tutorials/classes.

Why have they increased in popularity inspite of above reasons?

I have a Xbox One which basically won't let me play without internet. It wants my login, it wants to share my details with every game publisher, I have to create logins with them and receive commercial mail. Its infinitely tough to find games with No ads and No fees(I don't like spending money on games. I am happy with Hobbyist's developing games).

Any suggestions for Xbox alternatives?

Anyone here knows a good resume parsing library or API? I am planning a startup around skill building. Thanks!

My wife is a good QA working in a startup, doing REST API testing(writing automation framework, writing tests in python etc). She is bad at coding//puzzle kind of questions, partly because her undergrad institution is not great.

She is having trouble cracking interviews although she is doing well in phone screens. I think she needs a good coach who can identify her short comings and draw up plan of action, generally explain concepts she is having a tough time with, etc.
