It did not contribute anything to the discussion, and it garnered knee-jerk upvotes from people who, like you, hate Atwood's articles. I don't often downvote, and I never downvote for disagreement. I downvote comments that either add nothing or take away from the discussion, and your comment was a perfect example of that.
